WakiNet is the home project area for Alex Craxton. Here I write about the areas I am currently developing for and link into some interesting industry resources, hopefully in content. WakiNet is a result of the experience I have gained in the last 10 years in the Web, Mobile, Social and Media industries.

WakiNet started back in early 2001 as a project to build a simple Wiki. I have kept the name and started to use it as an umbrella project for the collaboratve products I am developing at the moment. The focus is on creating tools that aid a user through a process to build events, related experiences and communicate them well to their peers.

WakiNet the wiki

Written back in early 2001 as a simple way to learn a development language, this was my first experiment in social, collaborative environments. The tool is a little old in the tooth now, however it has been used by a number of efforts I have been involved with over the years and done its job. The focus was put into creating a wiki that focussed more on the user and not on the original Ward Cunningham wiki. But I am glad to see that most popular wikis these days have moved on also and knowing wiki markup is hopefully something of the past. WakiNet will be merged into a future project and will become a social object within the collaborative tools available. More to come.

MoMoLondon website

Mobile Monday London has run for nearly 3 years as a Yahoo! group and a blog. However this does not help us as a group to relate materials together, provide a simpler profile of members, control over registration for our events, and providing a spotlight for the podcasts, slideshows, photos and discussion around the topics and events so important to our community. The new website is the first step towards this goal, with the beta to focus on getting us off the old platforms and consolidate us into a single sign-on environment. More to come.

Network or Networks

In 2008 we are planning to bring together a number of networking groups within the UK for a mini conference where open discussion around creativity and social networking.
